TRACK YOUR ERRORS IN WINDOWS ©

In Windows 2000 © and Windows XP © there is a very useful application named "EVENT VIEWER". This program logs all error events occurring on your PC or server. To see the events logged follow these instructions;

  1. Click the "START" button.

  2. Then Choose "SETTINGS"

  3. Then choose "CONTROL PANEL"

  4. Select "ADMINISTRATIVE TOOLS"

  5. Then choose "EVENT VIEWER".

There are three default logs available. SYSTEM LOG will show events pertaining to your Hardware or Windows ©. APPLICATION LOG will show events regarding your applications (programs). SECURITY LOG will show any bad logons or attempts to make changes to your operating system.

The EVENT VIEWER can be indispensable when it come to troubleshooting your PC. You can cross-reference your error messages using the EVENT ID and SOURCE ID from the event viewer logs at WWW.EVENTID.NET
